Presentation Feedback

After our presentation today it is clear that there are plenty of ideas possible within our current game concept. There are still problems with our current idea and we are yet to narrow down what our core game play is going to be.
Issues raised
1.Character deign is not a strength of anyone in our group and If the game is being played in first person then we don't need a character.
2.If every block behaves the same way then there is no difficulty with our current mechanic. It would be interesting if the player was able to interact with each block in a variety of ways.
3.It may also be a good idea to create a variety of blocks that react differently to the player’s interaction and also to limit the use the player has of certain blocks. e.g. some cubes move inwards some move outwards or some have a light attached to them.
4.If we have a variety of cube but only a few of them can be moved then then solution to each puzzle may be too obvious. May be a good idea to include moveable cubes as a decoy.
5.The player should always be able to see most of a level so that they can work out a solution to the puzzle. So a third person perspective may work better than a first person perspective. or deign the levels so they are always moving upwards.
6.We are currently undecided if we want to include enemies in our game. If we do it may work against the puzzle solving element. We could include enemies that have very little movement so the player has time to think about how they could defeat them. The enemies could be defeated by either trapping them or crushing them using the environment.
7.The storyline is confusing and unnecessary so it would be better if we left it out.
8.Australian Dave recomended that we should concentrate on creating 4 or 5 really good levels.
